Recover a mass-creation run
Review recovery data after an interrupted run and resolve accounts whose final state is uncertain.
Applies to userXpress 1.9.5.50
A workstation or application failure can interrupt account creation after some changes have reached SAP. Do not immediately rerun the original workbook: first establish what already completed.
Resume or stop recovery
- Restart userXpress and open Mass User Create.
- If a recovery prompt appears, review it before continuing.
- Choose to continue only when you intend to process the remaining work from the interrupted run.
- If you choose not to continue, review the results worksheet produced for the work recorded so far.
- Save the workbook and inspect the messages for individual accounts.
Recovery relies on saved progress. If SAP created an account just before the application failed to record it, that account can exist even though its password or role-assignment result is uncertain.
Resolve uncertain accounts
Use the highlighted results and Messages log to identify affected system/client/user combinations. Check the account in SAP, verify the role assignments and reinitialize its password through the approved process if its initial password is unknown.
Do not treat the recovery prompt or a saved row as proof that every requested attribute was applied. Confirm the account’s actual state before notifying its owner.
If no recovery prompt appears when you expected one, preserve the workbook and available diagnostics. Contact support with the time of the failure and the last observed operation instead of creating the same accounts again.
Work with a mail-merge template
Save the result workbook first. The template under Mass User Create → Help → Save Example MS Word Mail Merge is optional; a new Word document can use the same result worksheet.
Only use email merge if your organization approves that credential-delivery method. Check that each recipient receives only their own account details; do not combine unrelated users’ credentials in one message.
- In desktop Word, open the template or a new document. Choose Mailings → Start Mail Merge → E-mail Messages.
- Choose Select Recipients → Use an Existing List, select the saved result workbook and confirm the worksheet containing the accounts and passwords.
- Write the message and use Insert Merge Field for the required account, client and recipient values.
- Use Preview Results and move through individual records. Check the recipient address and the account/system/client combination in each message.
- If your Word version offers Check for Errors, run its simulation before sending. A merge check does not verify that SAP created the account or that the recipient is authorized to receive the password.
- After approval, use Finish & Merge → Send E-mail Messages. Check the destination field, subject and record range. Verify the actual mail outcome; closing a merge dialog is not proof of delivery.
Word versions and mail-client requirements differ. See Microsoft’s email-merge instructions for your installed version. If the required mail integration is unavailable, use your approved alternative delivery process.
