Manage parameter IDs

Parameter IDs supply user-specific default values in SAP. Select the intended users in the Global User Table, check their system/client values, then choose Parameter ID.

Prepare the change

1. Review the target users in Parameter ID Management.
2. Use + to add a parameter row. Choose its Parameter ID and enter the Value.
3. Repeat for additional parameters. Use − to remove a row from the proposed list; that alone does not remove a parameter from SAP.
4. Choose the appropriate Parameter Options mode below.
5. Review both the list and the mode, then choose OK.
6. Inspect the results for each user. Copy Output copies result information for further investigation; review it before sharing.

The available parameter list is based on common data for the selected clients. If an expected parameter is missing, check the selected clients and their configuration before changing the selection.

Parameter ID Management shows the selected mode and individual results, including failures.

Choose how existing parameters are handled

Option	Effect on each selected user
Combine and overwrite with newer values	Add the listed parameters; when an ID already exists, replace its value with the new one. Keep other existing parameters.
Combine but retain exisitng values	Add missing IDs, but keep the user’s existing value when an ID is already assigned.
Replace all existing parameters with above	Remove the previous parameter set and replace it with the proposed list. Unlisted parameters are lost.
Remove the above parameters	Remove the listed IDs from the user and retain other parameters.

For example, if a user already has Z_DEMO=A, a proposal containing Z_DEMO=B changes the value under overwrite mode but retains A under retain mode. This illustrates the merge choice; use only parameter IDs supported by your SAP configuration.

Replacement and removal can change how the user’s SAP transactions behave. If the result differs between clients, inspect the per-user messages and actual parameter values before retrying.
